Mountain riders: 2011 report of waste collection in mountains

The 2011 campaign of wastes collection in mountains lead by MountainRiders rallied 7000 volunteers on around 130 spots. In total, 45 tons of wastes have been collected, an average of about 60 collectors by spot. Compared with last year, a thousand extra volunteers had come, and the average quantity of collected wastes has decreased. This 2011 report is very positive.

To avoid wastes on our mountains, it is necessary to adopt basic ecologic behaviour:

  • I keep my wastes with me in mountains
  • I bring my garbage to the nearest waste sorting point
  • I prefer reusable packaging or easily recyclable
  • I prefer products with few or no packaging
